The Music Of Star Trek Podcast

Sometimes you just want to have some fun and geek out with your friends and that’s precisely the motivation for this podcast about the music of Star Trek. It features four of my friends, each from different segments of the classical music field, getting together and geeking out about the music of Star Trek.

That’s really all there is to it and I couldn’t be happier with the result (technical difficulties and all). Everyone got along marvelously, and it felt like we had been friends for years. After listening, I hope you feel like one of the gang as well.

Before jumping into it, I have one request: if you enjoyed the program please take a moment to reach out and let us know on Facebook or Twitter and thank you in advance for sending your friends a link to the program.

The more positive feedback we get, the more likely we’ll be able to secure some funding to license the actual sound files to include in future episodes. It’s important to support the composers, musicians, audio engineers, and the related crew involved in creating the music of Star Trek we love so much.

Oh, and this is definitely NSFW so, you know, fair warning…

Here are clips from many of the tracks referenced in the podcast but remember, if you don’t already own the albums, purchase a copy to own or add them to your playlist at any paid music streaming provider!

To that end, all of the purchase links below are linked to an affiliate account where 100 percent of any revenue will go toward turning this from a one-off show into an ongoing series.

About Drew McManus

"I hear that every time you show up to work with an orchestra, people get fired." Those were the first words out of an executive's mouth after her board chair introduced us. That executive is now a dear colleague and friend but the day that consulting contract began with her orchestra, she was convinced I was a hatchet-man brought in by the board to clean house.

I understand where the trepidation comes from as a great deal of my consulting and technology provider work for arts organizations involves due diligence, separating fact from fiction, interpreting spin, as well as performance review and oversight. So yes, sometimes that work results in one or two individuals "aggressively embracing career change" but far more often than not, it reinforces and clarifies exactly what works and why.

In short, it doesn't matter if you know where all the bodies are buried if you can't keep your own clients out of the ground, and I'm fortunate enough to say that for more than 15 years, I've done exactly that for groups of all budget size from Qatar to Kathmandu.

For fun, I write a daily blog about the orchestra business, provide a platform for arts insiders to speak their mind, keep track of what people in this business get paid, help write a satirical cartoon about orchestra life, hack the arts, and love a good coffee drink.
