It’s time to stay with the learning curve and consider updating your organization’s Twitter profile page to take advantage of some of the more recent GUI (Graphical User Interface) improvements. To that end, I want to offer up a host of revised Photoshop template freebies that will make it easier than ever to make your profile pages not only look great but make your social media efforts more effective.
For all the folks stopping by today anticipating a Minnesota Orchestra redline agreement article, I’m sorry to say that major flight delays returning from the Outdoor Drama conference this week have put me a day behind schedule. Consequently, you can look forward to that post on Monday, 10/22/12.
The Header Image
One of the new components since our last overview is the header image for standard profiles. This appears at the top of your profile page where previously, just your avatar and profile bio/info were located.
In the following examples the Adaptistration Twitter profile maintains the older look while the Venture Industries Online profile page is sporting the updated layout. The difference in impact is considerable.

With Header Image
On tablet and smartphone devices, the header image provides real impact that would otherwise be lost by the loss of the left sidebar area. The appearance between both devices is very similar except in the case of smartphones, users swipe between the avatar only and bio/info content. Here’s a side by side comparison on a tablet device.

To add a header image, edit your profile and navigate to Settings > Design > Header. From there, you’ll be able to upload your header image. It might take a bit of tweaking to get it looking the way you want in conjunction with the avatar and bio/info content plus you’ll need to consider how the font colors will work set over the background image.
Fortunately, the new GUI Photoshop template will make that task a snap so you don’t have to worry about much fussing about with uploading multiple versions until things look the way you like.
But wait, there’s more; to make your life even easier, the new psd template incorporates smart objects (help) for the header image.
The free download includes the following psd files:
