Greg Miller

Greg Miller’s interest in concert hall acoustics can be traced to the moment that his 16-year-old self sat on stage at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore, wondering if the stories his orchestra teach told him about tuning the hall by aiming lights at the ceiling were true. An unfortunate lack to discipline to practice his beloved violin was bolstered by an affinity for physics, and Greg’s path away from music and into acoustics was set. Greg has a deep love of every aspect of the design process, from the earliest moments of conceptualization to reflecting on the first few years of operation with end users. While he will enthusiastically dive into the technical minutiae of a construction detail, Greg never forgets that that goal of his work is not a well-crafted report, a beautiful set of drawings, or even the finished building; the only true measure of his success is the experience of the people who inhabit the buildings he helps design. He is a Principal in the Chicago office of Kirkegaard.
