(UPDATE 3:18pm CT – agreement has been ratified) Details from the proposed, and confidential, master agreement between the Philadelphia Orchestra Association (POA) and their musicians are starting to leak to the surface. One of the items with the greatest impact for fallout is whether or not the POA remains in the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) and Employers Pension Fund. According to statements coming from the latter, it doesn’t look like that’s the case.

What Do You Think Is Going To Happen In Philly?
According to all reports, the Philadelphia Orchestra Association (POA) and their musicians have reached a tentative agreement, forged under the guidelines set forth by bankruptcy judge Eric L. Frank. Details of the agreement are unknown but inside sources say the musicians may have received a copy of the details and have had a rank and file meeting as recent as Sunday evening that meeting has reportedly been rescheduled for Monday evening.

In the wake of the very public, lawyer filled, and at times nasty feud between Peter Nero and the Philly Pops and the Philadelphia Orchestra Association (POA), both groups ultimately arrived at a separation agreement. They will continue with joint operations through June, 2012 and beyond that, they are once again separate entities.
One Step Forward, Two Steps Back In Louisville
(UPDATED 10:15am CT – AFM PLACES LO ON UNFAIR LIST) The 8/15/2011 edition of the Louisville Courier-Journal published an article by Elizabeth Kramer which reports that the judge overseeing the Louisville Orchestra’s (LO) bankruptcy approved the organization’s latest reorganization plan. According to the article, the judge approved the plan, in part, with the belief that it “would give the orchestra and its musicians an opportunity to focus on contract talks.”
