The latest round of talks in the Louisville Orchestra (LO) labor dispute has produced no changes in the standoff. According to the 11/16/2011 edition of the Louisville Courier-Journal in an article by Elizabeth Kramer, the musicians unanimously rejected management’s latest offer.

Another Sudden CEO Departure, This Time In Pittsburgh
Looks like the Colorado Symphony Orchestra isn’t the only group to pull a CEO quick-change before the season is half over. News started filtering out yesterday morning that the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) simultaneously confirmed that Lawrence Tamburri would step down as president and CEO immediately and be permanently replaced by PSO board vice-chair James Wilkinson.
A Clumsy Act Of Vanity
Still having an amazing time here at the National Arts Marketing project Convention and will write more about that later but I wanted to point out something that transpired over the weekend in Denver in what has to be a new benchmark for public ill will. The 11/13/2011 edition of the Denver Post published an opinion piece written by former Colorado Symphony Orchestra (CSO) board members Heather K. Miller and Bruce Clinton that does little beyond demonstrating why the institution is perhaps better off without them.

Tweeting at conferences has become so commonplace that if you’re a presenter and you don’t see folks in the audience with their heads buried into Smartphones, tablets, or latptops, then it’s probably a bad sign. They share tweetable tidbits from speakers, thoughts and observations about the topic at hand, and even have conversations with other Twitter users. So what’s a conference to do when the Twitter hastag isn’t behaving and participants can’t follow in real-time?
